Part of the EU GDPR thing we were forced to do. So no, it's not a bug.

"We all look the same to you!"

Any chance for an opt in for sharing our profile pic and legal name?

That is possible, I guess. Needs some recoding that Perff might not have time for, however. Plus: the obvious problem that every scener entry then must be locked to that very scener, and the scener must identify himself etc etc. I would say just leave it as it is. This is not Facebook anyhows.

the whole thing is really whack in any case. if you'd actually be serious with the GDPR compliance, you'd have to shut down csdb =P

Perff could have at have least deleted all user photos he still has in his database. 3rd party sites and applications still use the pictures since the URLs to these pictures still work. Btw, one could question if this is not a data breach.

I am not sure if users can still delete their photo. I have done this quite a while ago, so I cannot check. All I know is that I cannot upload a new photo.

Actually, technically, the way Perff has implemented hiding the user photos on CSDb, he still needs consent to share the pictures with these 3rd party sites and applications.

So, let's hope Perff will soon do an "rm -rf /sceners/photos", or whatever the location is, to fix this problem ;-)

(or implement a decent system so we can give consent)

Scenexit then ;)

IMO photos should be visible to registered users only - Facebook for example.

fuck GDPR on CSDB.. I want my picture back.
When GDPR is a case here, delete real name and contact info also, as well as email address.

I think GDPR is not a issue here...

Real name, mail, and contact info are already gone, as GDPR is the issue. We do what we can do here to keep this rolling, and keep in mind this whole project is built up by voluntary work, some ads, and gifts.

groepaz nailed it once more

A database mainly dedicating to preserving warez (no matter how unlikely is that any copyright owners exist or care) taking pesudo data security legislation GDPR 101% seriously!? LOL!

You're all good at typing, but can you make an alternative CSDb site and taking the risks?
Now let's see who's good at talking and who's good at getting things done.

I can be your privacy officer, if you want. Where do I sign? :P

I think Groepaz is right, though I appreciate that some people are balancing on a rope here.

I know right. And a lot of other demos too. Not least Don't meet Crest where the D64 doubles as a JPEG if you rename it.

How can I make sure my photo was deleted? That photo of me can seriously damage my political career, since I was pretty high.

The funny thing with GPDR.. I don't think anyone will track and follow whatever you're doing. I'm not doing a jack shit with my business website to make it more GPDR-compliant. Come and jail me. Oh, and I don't have that piece of paper around that I should have to show if anyone asks.

GDPR is meant for your customers. Your customers are your income, no?

Sure. I just think the GDPR decision was rushed and it's a too big, one size fits all solution to a very real problem. For a small business like mine, with no client database to speak of.

GDPR: 15 years in the making (first proposal on 22-06-2011). It entered into force on 24-05-2016. After a leniency period of two years, the local data protection agencies have received their power to actually enforce the regulation. This was May last (2018).

I would not call this a rushed decision.

@Sense: After all, it's users who up their profile including pics, so I think blaming site admins for spread of stoned photos due to GDPR is kinda stupid even if it is possible now. Though I wouldn't like what has just happened to a bunch of German politicians (private data published by some skript kid), I sometimes think you can not protect attention whores from their own stupidity

@Run-your-own-CSDb killer argument: Hey, all we're saying is that if someone wants to cause trouble for the host of a warez database, he will finde other reasons than GDPR anyway.

the problem are users who add this kind of data for other sceners, not themselves. and thats much more common than you think :)

Does not help as you are still linking them and includes them in the database.

Easiest way to convince you:

Think of all the c64 sceners here, and honestly say you don't think 1 of them is crazy enough to start complaining? :)

A valid complaint for breaching GDPR as a 'organisation' (which CSDB is) can result in monetary penalty, requiring organisations to pay up to £500,000 for serious breaches of the Data Protection Act occurring on or after 6 April 2010

[...] requiring organisations to pay up to £500,000 for serious breaches of the Data Protection Act occurring on or after 6 April 2010

You've must have been looking at some old UK data protection act (hence the GBP in the fine). GDPR exists since 2016 and is in full effect since end may 2018.

Ah yes. I copied that from a google link, since I didn't know the amounts. Didn't read the sentence quite right I guess . But again: it costs a lot!
