Installing Hi-Score Saver
Hi-Score Saver should be added to release credits. There have been releases that one person cracked a game and another person added a hi-score saver routine. Since hi-score savers are important to many sceners, it deserves to have its own release category. |

installing a good hs saver, and with good i mean working at least on 1541, 1581, ide64, hw fast loaders and sd-based devices, don't require less work than a good ntsc fix.
So, why ntsc yes and hs saver no? |

its about as hard as copypasting http://codebase64.org/doku.php?id=base:saving_a_file somewhere. nowhere near the efforts needed to fix something for ntsc. |

What about single-load games that don't take care about IO/vectors or ZeroPage kernel IO buffers/working area?
Code you posted as example uses
LDA #$C1 ; start address located in $C1/$C2
what happen if game uses this location(s) for his own purposes?
Are you so sure that it is enough to copy paste codes like this one to have a full-working HS-saver?
And what about searching code to be patched where HS-Saver must be started to update saved data?
For me it's a little bit harder than copy/paste from codebase... |

You look like an italian politician: do not pull phrases out of context!
My sentence "it's a little bit harder" don't mean "for me install hs-saver is a little bit harder", but mean "it's a little bit harder than copy/paste from codebase" as you wrote...
ok? |

Apart from this being a useless category it seems a useless discussion as well.
Alas, let us start and finish a discussion on what a proper hi-saver actually is and its minimum set of featuritis!

As far as i remember the CSDb rules defines it that way: A Hi-saver must be switched of when any trainer is active and it has to offer the option of reseting the scores to default. |

All for it, and don't forget the credit "moral support for the poor guy who was fighting with the hi-score saver"; that one is even more important. And the pizza-supplier for the moral support guy? Oh, all the fame...
(in case you don't know, I did my share with the hi-saver in IK+ Gold; that one was surely nasty, but it's part of the crack.) |
