Same handling of deleting entries without download link requested
Would the admins please handle the deleting of entries missing a download link the same way?
Actual cracks of titles still on sale are posted without download link to protect the the sales of the title. Some admin leaves the entry, another one deletes it straight away. It's a question of luck by now. Thanks. |

maybe you would like to read up on the rules to see why some may be deleted and others not? |

Every once in a while there's someone who passes by CSDb and starts questioning the rules and actions.
Just don't.
At least if you haven't been around and active on this site since, like, time immemorial.
Even then, it is perhaps wise to ask WHY instead of suggesting another way to start with ;-) |

Well, reading the rules, it says:
"Releases with no download link and no good reason why there isn't such a link might be removed."
So indeed it depends on whoever feels in charge to decide which reason is "good" or not.
IMHO trying to protect the sales of a "commercial" product in 2012 _is_ a good reason. But I think I mentioned that already in some other thread. :-) |

*generally* there *always* must be a file, except for some rare exceptions, for example:
"If a crack is accepted at one of the C64 related FTP sites index by pokefinder, it will always be counted as a valid release on CSDb. Note that uploading alone doesn't count, the release must be accepted by the particular site and be moved out of "incoming" for everyone to download. Since the CSDb staff will not actively (or even regulary) check if releases are valid, but may need to do so on request of a user, you must add a valid download link (not pointing to "incoming") until 48h after adding the release entry. For releases of recent commercial games it is acceptable that you delete said link immediatly again (so it will not be publicly visible, but staff members can still see it if needed). Entries without such a link may get deleted without notice, don't complain. This is an intentional "loophole" in these rules. if those sites accept a release, then we must consider it being a valid scene release, no matter what our own rules say. (Keep in mind though, that those sites by themselves may have rather strict rules on what they accept and what not)"
so those entries with no file that didnt get deleted are related to releases that can be found on one of these ftp sites. no more no less.
and it says "may" because we still dont actively search for such stuff and will only take action when we stumble about it. |
