Voting
I have a question regarding the votes. I got a 1 vote as a cracker, maybe not that far from the truth actually but anyway... Is it possible to see who voted what? I'm just curious what crack that person have from me, that was so bad? Or is it a trick by a youngsters mind? ;)Have seen this kind of voting in other places too. |

Join the club. Every time I release a 'crack' I receive a '1' vote, invisible of course. How a crack can be a '1' is beyond me, if it works, it's small and trained.
Any crack otherwise not forzen warrants higher than a '1'.
I suspect it's someone who feels this is competition. |

Who cares about crackers anyway, why not spend your time creating something like "demo's", eh ?

This is why all votes should be public, but we've already had that discussion (and fairly recently too)

Because making demos is an addiction like crack cocaine.
I wish so much I'd kept all of mine, but I didn't...
Say no to crack!!!

We need to receive some more votes for Vandalism News. So for a REAL C64 chart, message me your top 5 votes in coders, graphician, musician, demo group, cracker group, cracker and magazine.
Unlike the chart in this database, there is no down-voting. People earn their positions and these positions are reflected in a chart (holding to the true and traditional chart on C64).

CSDb is full of anonymous downvoting, I think that the vote system here is useless, this is not a disc mag. We should not care about votes here. Why don't you fill the votesheet for some discmag ?
From my side, I wish to see more new demos than cracks. |

Indeed, too much senseless down-voting.. these charts onhere don't reflect anything, just because the whole voting-system is almost begging for manipulation done by biased people, who, for whatever reason, still seem to carry on bad vibrations about people/groups, they were in trouble with years ago.
The easiest solution: get rid of that voting-system, create a new one without that senseless proportional-average-calculation feature, just count the Votes the way it was done for so many years. If someone voted 1 point or 10 points for a person/group, than simply add it/them to the summary for that person/group. If people don't vote for you or your group, than you might not have done anything worth to remember to deserve a vote, easy as that and the problem with the "downvotes" is solved.
Whatever, someone please wake me up, are we really discussing 64 charts in the year 2005 ?! ^^

That sounds like a nice solution. The only fact you get then, is that the newer productions would take some time to get as much points as the old ones. Did i explain that well? |

Earthshaker, well, i see your point, but hey, isn't all this about nostalgia anyway ?! So what's so bad about it, if people like some older demo/group more than a new one and even if it's just because it is old and retro ?! That's the reason why most of us hang around here.
Anyway, shouldn't be too difficult to find a solution for that problem aswell. Let's simply have an official cut between oldschool and newschool, 2 devided charts and the like. I did never really like that mixing of those 2 completely different scenes from back then and nowadays anyway.

Following The Arrogance here..
Sounds not bad to have a barrier between the two scenes.
But where to draw the line?
I consider myself to be something like an "oldskool-newbie" ;)
Then again,God knows how many people had already quit when I just got started in 1989.
Maybe I am only not-so-oldskool,get my drift? 8) |

I think that there are some idiots who are having fun here, maybe even they have some fake profiles here. Or just a childs who don't even know that there is not so easy to make cracks. All votes should be public but I think that voting here is nonseless. |

i guess discussing the votes being pub or not kinda went off and obsolete along with the nice formular we had on the bottom right corner some time ago. i guess that's what can be called a 'silent agreement' (or did anyone ever come up with a final solution and state it here? =).
so, why even care about votes in the first place; it's nice that they're there, but as much as they're present, they don't work at all because of above mentioned reasons.
other than that: fish. |

*LOL* Some people also downvoted me as swapper ;-)
Anyway, I actually use the charts in here, because I find it funny and interesting to see how certain people vote for the demos. If some people have voted some demos good and maybe added some nice comments to the release, then I get a little too curious, and just have to check some of those demos myself too see if I share their point of view...
Guess I´ll enjoy watching old(and new) C64 demos and stuff for the rest of my life:)
But yes - votes in 2005, hehe, that´s just Fun Stuff! ;-)

"Anonymous voting" is a contradiction in itself.
Voting is ment to speak your mind.
So,if you do it anonymously, nobody really cares what you ´say´ because it could be anyone.
A Name tells more than some "anonymous 1".
Duh,"Brutal Recall" votesheet-rule nr.1...
No Handle - Not Qualified. ;P
Nothing new under the sun...

In short;
- Do a SQL query that resets every vote on every release/group/whatever.
- Disable anonymous voting
- Let's start all over again.
Deal? Deal!

Because the CSDb staff does not want it. e.g. Perff.
And well, I also wouldn't like that wars happen just because somebody voted for something and you could punish them |

If you vote Booze Design a 1,you deserve to get shot.
Life is competition, like it or not.
It is not hard to make a phoney-account.
Use that,if you feel like a kid and wanna downvote. :(
Atleast make it fun again.
Like with those ´shit´-crackers in 1992 (rotzkotz,etc..)
Be open in a disguised way!!
Sure, some people might get pissed when they find out who you really are.
But that also puts some restraint on you. 8P
Eventually people will find out.
Maybe the CSDb staff should give them lame-voters some time to ´correct´ their mistakes.
But please kill this anonymous option!
.:*^° warping to 2010 °^*:.
But please kill this anonymous option!

contrast suggestion: Disallow votes for 1-4 and only allow 5-10 :) no more downvoting! :D |

What about a Hall Of Shame with a list of downvoters?
#1 would be (IMO) be a guy that calls himself WG (WG) who made himself an anonymous voter after he got 'bashed' in Panoramic's Mentallic thread.
This is, by the way, also a reason to throw the whole anonymous voting over board.

I used to only give votes of 6 and up or not vote all all..
Now I just think that people a should be able to accept a bit of criticism, even when you are friends. I also stopped voting anonymously.
I'd prefer all votes to be open here.
And most 1 votes are downvotes ofcourse, unless they are 2 stripes representing a town with people eating pizza in a restaurant at 5:30 ..
(In that case the imaginative part would deserve a 2 )
