Most Technical Intros
For the most part, extremely technical coding has been reserved for demos. What intros used on a regular basis were over the top? I remember Genesis Project used a circular mulitplexer on one of their intros. Add on... |

There's actually quite a lot of them around, if you just care looking. Just take Leeway's Alpha Flight intro which used bitmap colorscrolling, in the same fashion as Bob/Censor did it in Wonderland X.
I believe this Arcade intro featuring nice design and linevectors might qualify too. Or the cybervector in this F4CG & Avantgarde-intro. F4CG generally had some really nice, hi-tech intros. An older intro I am fond of is this Legend intro from around '87 featuring a strange scroller and a nice plotroutine. |

I thought this one was pretty advanced for a 1987 intro: Oink! +. |

The Riffs-Intro from Quasarsoft came to my mind, f.e. in Fubbick - which was also a part of Marc's Movements. |

Red Sector intro #6
Ikari intro by Tri-dos
DCS intros
Mystic intro by Mystic (teenage Krill)
G+P intros
Zenith intro
SCG intros
Dynamix intro by the Syndicate (i think)
okay, these examples may not look very VERY exciting, but they featured some complex routines, side-borders at least. |

Bacco is my #1. Very underrated coder and designer. Some of the Arcade-intros by him which aren't up on intros.c64.org is really stunning. And we shouldn't forget S.E.S. either. |

Personally I must say my favorites is the original Triad intro from 1987 - http://intros.c64.org/intros/triad-01.png and the one Janitor modfied later on - http://intros.c64.org/intros/triad-02.png.
Also the famous Fairlight intro: http://intros.c64.org/intros/flt-01.png.
2 more intros I could think of were these 2000AD: http://intros.c64.org/intros/2000ad-02.png and http://intros.c64.org/intros/2000ad-01.png
These are not visually hard to do, but the intros were using so few bytes of memory including the scroll text.
About great looking intros with nice effects I can see conrad put a few of them, but the famous TPI intro which were done in 1987 I think. http://intros.c64.org/intros/tpi-01.png

I think we should keep it mind this thread is about 'technically great' demos, not 'just great' demos. |

you mean intros. btw I'm alone thinking that famous FLT intro blows? :) guess coz I havent seen it in its day. btw most intros ppl list here has only historical value imho. i mean, the hordes of examples linked in showing nothing but scrollers rasters+logo is anything than creative or technically outstanding. |

Intros yes, ofcourse (that will teach me to write a post while trying to watch a football game at the same time). |

Mine were listed because its technically great - needs some knowledge and work to make the intro as short as the Triad intro - If I remember correct its less than 2 blocks including scrolltext. |

Yes, as optimization Triad's intro are great. On the other hand I personally dislike this kind of intros with lack of music and effects. But it's a personal opinion of course. I'd vote for a Mirage's intro with a vertical DYCP effect really cool, sadly I don't have a link. |

BTW: for a bit of italian support from my side, I'd like to vote this ICS intro too: IFFL Linker V2.0 |
