That reminds me. Many years ago, I remember walking around Portobello market, London one Saturday. The market is best described as a market set in a long street. Theres a lot for sale, both new, old, sometimes collectable, including antiques. Theres usually many people there. It is where the Notting Hill Carnival takes place, not that Ive ever been to that. Back then I was into buying audio tapes, and stumbled across a tape, with an Ocean label on it. What was different about the tape was that face that it featured an Ocean label, although the name of the game was written in ink. It said Rambo. I paid about £1 for this tape, as I was curious to see what machine it was for, and the fact that Rambo had not been released at that point. It failed to load on the Commodore 64, so I tried it on my ZX Spectrum, and it loaded! It turned out to be a static screen showing how the game looked. It showed the bland looking play area, and the score area. How it ended up on a market stall among junk remains a mystery. All I could think of was, maybe it had been sent to a magazine, Crash for example, so they could print it as a preview. |

Dear sweetsugamomma,
Have you considered dumping the contents of this disk before selling it? It would be a real shame if this ended up in the hands of a collector and not shared with the C64 community.

Dear heavystylus,
Hi,
Yes I have and there is no way I can do it as I do not have a working C64 or a Disk drive!

haha - yes, sweetsugamomma apparently worked at The Edge...!
Emailed Frank Gasking:
I'm hoping one of the collectors I know will win it and avoid a bidding war. There was a bit of frantic emailing around collectors to ensure we don't outbid each other and get one person to bid :-)
Fingers crossed we'll get it! :-)

It doesn't help exactly that it is mentioned in this thread to begin with.
Anyway, hopefully whoever wins it can get it to work. |

What is most critical is that it lands in the possession of a scener. It is not critical which group restores this. What is important is that this rare original is preserved by the scene. |

Fuck it. I'm going to email the seller with a message to forward on to the winning bidder, linking to this site, and GTW64 and asking for the source to be shared with the group of his/her choice so that it can (hopefully) be completed into a working game. If it was won by a scener, great. However, at that price I fear it may have been purchased by a collector who wants to keep the disk for it's 'unique' value and never even insert it into a working 1541... |

(How long before fake previews/cracks come out pretending to be this game, I wonder...) ;) |

Apologies for three posts in a row. This does not sound promising:

Dear heavystylus,
Hi,
The buyer is aware of the situation regarding the unreleased game and has been monitoring disscussions on the Lemon64 forum.
I would suggest you ask him via those means as he may be able to supply you with some images at least, he may even be a member of that forum.
Best Regards

I'm almost certain of the winner, the guy is a rather well known eBay seller from UK. I know he was bidding against Mayhem ...
Also, it's not important that the game lands in a scene groups hands. There are plenty of non-sceners that can create D64 images. ;)
