Automated D64 imaging/archiving?
I remember reading about automated archiving, where D64 images were automatically scanned and files stuck in a database based on a unique hash of the file. But I can't find it anymore. Anybody know what it was?
It seems http://scenebase.org/ is dead and http://history64.com/ doesn't offer instructions on this.
So basically archiving is "just image a disk, and hopefully some human will scan out unique files"?
Any other quick ways to determine if D64 images contain files not yet archived somewhere?
(Also, how would that work if you want to preserve non-regular files or data/noise on all tracks/sectors...) |

You should check out Assembly64. It has that function. If you want to go though unknown disks and content you can ask Scooby for "Preservator" status, and swim through hundreds of thousands floppies with unknown stuff on to add on csdb etc. |

Check, thanks folks.
I think what I saw was PreserveC64DB, but since Assembly64 gets recommended more often I'll give that a whirl. |

In Assembly64 you can choose between the bulk tool to scan through local files (it will compare the hash for every file to csdb and more places), and you can run the found stuff directly in vice etc, and right click will show options to create a new d64 with the file in question and more. Or you can dive into the files people uploaded. Ask Scooby for directions if you need it. |

Yes, Assembly64 is the best solution here.
I also did upload a few images there. ;-) |

I appreciate the summary. Sounds exactly like what I need! |
