A.B.C.L. - All Borders Colour Laced has this been done yet?
If not, can it be done?

Also added an old'ish Turrican 4 Image while doing some site fixing ;)

The 8 sprites with open sideborder requires a $d011 mode which hampers placing hires gfx (or any gfx as a matter of fact) on the same rasterline. |

And me the asshole says:
Check SOUL/Booze Design for only x-interlaced ESCOS. Load the note.
With 7 sprites you can show some gfx while having open sideborder, but not the way you want :(. |

Now that you mention it, I remember a 20CC musicdemo with a logo by Orc in the SB with still a couple of balls swaying about. Obviously including a closed sideborder at the badline :)

HCL forgot to mention the mighty Royal Arte's allborder stretcher part (2nd picture) to see how such a multi X expanded pic could look like with interlace. Well it's one sprite less wider, but you get the same overall feeling.

With 7 sprites + open side border you can display upto 56 different hires gfx lines. See Panta Rhei or the side border hires FPP in Demode. |

I'm also using X-expanded sprites only in the checkerboard escos part in Bunny.

So it cannot be done then, atleat with hires overlays.
So what about the same effect without the hires graphics. Just full screen with no Y expanding.
There is a Crest part that does this with a plasma effect opposed to an image. That colour splits in the X direction ever 1 or 2 lines down the screen. So maybe a twist on the idea could use a full screen image with colour splits in the X direction to make for a full screen colour image :) |
