Hi Peeps
Hi there
Had no idea something like this existed !
I was a swapper working with TransX of Scouse Cracking Group, and swapped on a weekly basis with Laffen of Raw Deal Inc.
One of my fondest memories of that time was going to the Commodore Show at Earls Court in London. Some how found a free 64' with a working disk drive, and got out my discs I had brought :)
Loaded up the newly released demo of Time Crystals, which at the time was simply the best Gfx done on the 64. A crowd quickly sprang up, and various people from cracking groups all took turns loading up their new demos :)
ah them were the days :)

Ah the Commodore and PCW shows... those were the days, especially the I.C.C. stand since they let us load demos up too. =-) |

Damn, I forgot all about Time Crystals. I remember being completely floored by that at the time. Was that ever made into a game or did it just die in the lab as a tech demo? I'm going try and find it right now. Thanks for reminding me about it. |

Time Crystal was created by Jim Sachs, who also created the small c64 game Saucer Attack.
He also did the graphics for Defender of the Crown on the Amiga, a bit of widely distributed art on the Amiga (the red porsche being one of the first I saw), and did the GUI for the CDTV.
He's probably more widely known now for creating that 3D SereneScreen Aquarium screensaver - http://www.fish-byte.com/
Time Crystal and Saucer Attack both really showed that something impressive can be made with the c64 without going crazy with techy coding. Great stuff. |
