Quote: i think maybe people (including me at first)
get a bit pee'd at some people on this and many other similar sites when they first arrive.
it's such a close community here and to be honest you only get respect if you treat people with respect.
but now ive got to know some of you a bit better i understand why your tolerance for certian individuals is so low.
i'd probably get pissed off if some newby arrived saying what your doing is a waste of time and gaming is better.
i know doing c64 "related" stuff isnt really keeping the c64 alive but it's something i love to do and in a very small way it brings new interest to the scene.
not the same as what you lot do i know but maybe it helps bring in new people.
waddya think?
gamers are 'ok' but sceners deserve 'respect'!!!???
why?

Cadaver: I'm sure you meant 320x200x16. At least that's what I tend to go for. :) And I must say I've always envied gamers - I've just never had the chance to get involved in any game projects...yet. |

@fadiga
Gamers sit there and mindlessly press buttons on their joypad, sceners code/draw/compose and CREATE something for the c64, only things gamers create is maybe a highscore. Simple as that, I think your question totaly proves you have no clue about the difference between the two and therefore aren't qualified to have an opinion ;) |

Dane: It's just me, my autonomous nervous system (that controls pixeling hand) has configured itself mostly for support of 160x200 :))
But yeah, definitely go for 320x200 if memory requirements, aesthetics or any other factors support it

actually it's the games who finally dragged me into the c64 scene, way back.

because sceners have proven skills and gamers have not.

isn't it a bit arrogant to "drop" gamers in this way? Older sceners want respect, although they only sit in the chat and do nothing then oddling 'bout old times.
So, games are very important, same as demos!! Demos are cool, I like 'em to see, but I really miss games these days, THEY made the 64 to what it is today. So it's quite hard to call gamers lame.
We need "actors" and "consumers", without any graduation...

so you say that the fat ugly guy sitting in his couch watching tv all day deserves a lot of respect only because he is a consumer? no way!

*thinking about what's on tv and radio all day long*
*wondering if he could stand consuming that stuff for more then 3 hours in a row*
