Looking for old bitmap animation tool
I'm looking for a tool that allowed creating animations with multi-color bitmap: iirc you'd load a koala or Amica Paint picture and then select frames and the program would run the animation.
Must have been around 1989, I remember doing a 'Shadow of the Beast' character running before I'd seen the C64 SotB version. I remember my animations having more than three colors, probably done in Amica Paint, so tools that converted bitmap into sprites for animation are probably out. Then again it's been 30 years, so I could be wrong.
I searched CSDb for 'animator' etc, but came up with nothing that fits my, admittedly vague, memory. |

Giga-Paint [german] was a powerful program i used quite a lot back then. It came with many handy tools & features, possibly including an animator, but i don´t remember... :/ |

Only one I recall is RATT's Animate for the Juggler demo: Annimate |

Thanks for the suggestions, Ratt's tool doesn't look like the one I used. Gigapaint is going to take a while to figure out: 4 floppy sides, bloody hell :) |

why do you want an old tool when you can simply use a new easy tool? png2prg 1.2 is the answer :) |

Great tool, love the examples, but I personally wasn't looking for an animation packer/replayer, rather something to create/pixel animations with.
Not gonna use mega koala paint myself, though. Just found this thread and tried to help an old nostalgic man. ;) |

Thanks Hein, that indeed is the tool I used, I remember the pink text now! Might give it a go for old times' sake.
Meanwhile I'm working on a tool of my own, gotta do stuff the hard way =)
At least mine will run natively on Linux (and Windows, Mac and BSD). |

Yep. But I don't think I can actually pixel something in png2prg, can I? |
