Event id #3154 : Only Sprites Compo 2022
*** Only Sprites Competition ***
Competition Rules (v1.0):
* You can ONLY display sprites - no chars or bitmaps. Magic byte(s) CAN be used.
* Change any VIC properties that you like
* Interaction IS allowed - make it a game if you like (including title, game, scores, instructions)
* Music is allowed and encouraged
* Borders can of course be removed
* No REU allowed
* Entries must be supplied as D64 or PRG and uploaded to CSDb
* Demos, Intros, Games, Diskmags, -ANYTHING- allowed ... so long as only sprites are used through the production
Winner will be chosen based on CSDB votes sometime on 7th March 2022 using a simple squared average:-
((#10votes ^ 2) * 10 + (#9votes ^ 2) * 9 + ... (#1 votes ^ 2) * 1) / (#allvotes ^ 2)
*- these rules are subject to change based on feedback up until 31st January 2022. |

Only ROM fonts? So, not necessarily petscii, as there'd be no restrictions on ECM/multicolour/FLI dma/stretching/etc |

I do have an oldish idea for an ECM entry, though, but didn't have the time when the compo was on. It's still on the list, but somewhat low-priority wrt other projects. |

A bunch of ideas [you're welcome]:
• Vertical logo compo (any mode, would be cool to see 8 sprites overlay on top of a FLI stripe etc.)
• Physics compo – whatever FX involving springs, collisions etc.
• $3fff compo – push the ghostbyte to the limits
• ISOMETRIC compo – whatever GFX or FX that uses axonometric projection
• line drawing compo – best/fastest line drawing routine (think Cruzer's sprite lines)
• AI compo – anything generated by/with the help of AI |

Total RAM usage limited for all entries and subcategories for speed and size.
But then again, this might be a bit too complex as it would require some set up framework blabla. Just dropping in with that idea that also has some potential 'future use' :) |

One thing is for sure: the more esoteric the topic and the more specific the rules and requirements, the more entries that compo will have :) |
