A quick clarification request for the 4k intro compo rules:
"Your entry must start at $0801 with a basic start and may not exceed $17ff"
Does this mean that the intro must not use ANY other mem area than 0801-17ff at any point, or is decrunching allowed after load? How about ZP usage? Cheers! |

Quoting Frostbytethere have been some intro compos in the recent past where the intro is not allowed to spill to the mem areas outside the load area. Those intro compos are the oddballs, actually. Size on disk as the only relevant restriction has been the norm for decades. =) |

Quoting FrostbyteI thought using other areas than 0801-17ff could be allowed. I just wanted to verify that with the orgas as there have been some intro compos in the recent past where the intro is not allowed to spill to the mem areas outside the load area.
filesize must be max 4096 bytes (including $0801 load address and basic start). you may use all RAM available during execution.
edit: also, I will clarify this with a compo rule update |

Thanks for verifying Burglar! Limiting mem usage at runtime is an oddball rule indeed, happy to see X is following the standard. :)
(especially as my potential idea for a 4k intro certainly won't fit into 4k after decompression) |

Is there a maximum runtime for demos? I'm sure that someone told me it was 10mins at X2018 .. any such restriction for X2023? (asking for a friend by the way...) |
