A quick clarification request for the 4k intro compo rules:
"Your entry must start at $0801 with a basic start and may not exceed $17ff"
Does this mean that the intro must not use ANY other mem area than 0801-17ff at any point, or is decrunching allowed after load? How about ZP usage? Cheers! |

That should mean the prg should be loading to $0801 to 17ff included, then running it, it can unpack and use whole memory if you want.
It means the useful byte count is only 4094 bytes and not 4096, the end byte after loading should be in theory $1801, because first 2 byte on the prg is just the loading address and should not count.
In these rules they took the load address as counting in the filesize. |

I thought using other areas than 0801-17ff could be allowed. I just wanted to verify that with the orgas as there have been some intro compos in the recent past where the intro is not allowed to spill to the mem areas outside the load area. |

It's simply about filesize, which can not exceed 4k including load address. Ie the bog standard rule most parties have been using in 4k compos since forever :) |

Quoting Frostbytethere have been some intro compos in the recent past where the intro is not allowed to spill to the mem areas outside the load area. Those intro compos are the oddballs, actually. Size on disk as the only relevant restriction has been the norm for decades. =) |

filesize must be max 4096 bytes (including $0801 load address and basic start). you may use all RAM available during execution.
edit: also, I will clarify this with a compo rule update |

Thanks for verifying Burglar! Limiting mem usage at runtime is an oddball rule indeed, happy to see X is following the standard. :)
(especially as my potential idea for a 4k intro certainly won't fit into 4k after decompression) |

I phrased it like this in Propaganda: "a quick note to people/groups planning to enter the demo competition: we are using a real C64, it does not have warp-mode. Please think about the audience when timing your parts, having to watch a single part for multiple minutes without any action, can be perceived as quite boring during the show. You might want to implement press space functionality, or better, shift-lock to hold parts." |

Mid of March has passed for some time now. Where can we get expensive first class tickets to X now?
Some of us still have to make sure their employer lets them travel to covid islands this June and ensure vacation times... or check flights, reservations, ensure car transportations...

Hi
Asking for a friend.
For those single day tickets. If used on Saturday , will you have to leave at 00:00 then and not be able to watch the prize giving ceremony (as it is on Sunday)?
Or can you watch that and leave after the ceremony?
Maybe this is stated somewhere , but asking for a friend anyway. :) |

Important X'23 update for everyone who did not buy a ticket yet.
On Sunday 16 April we will open remaining bed/room reservations for everybody. Regardless of what you selected, every visitor (registered or not yet registered) can buy a ticket on a first-come, first-served basis.
For the persons who originally pre-registered for a bed/room (sleeping at X) and did not buy a ticket yet:
On Sunday 16 April your pre-registration will expire. Only buying a ticket and reserving a bed/room will guarantee you a sleeping spot at X. |

so.. let me guess: basically X itself is just hell's precipice, and then it is slamming doors, snoring, farts, puke, dry-aged-sweat and ungrated foot parmesello? i guess i dodged a bullet some years ago when i almost went :-D
i had my suspicions during the gubbdata and revision breakfasts, though, wich peaked when chris hulsbeck entered the breakfast room (after he didn't bother with the blue-discolored eggs, he was right infront of me in the buffet-queue) of the hotel and took a looooooong look around and finally sat alone at the most remote table :-D
you're welcome to call me a snowflake, but my last snorefartpuke-sleepover was in 1991 and i think thats where my ptsd is rooted.
[edit:]
but wait - i just remembered, it cannot be as bad as some of the industrial-ebm festival backstage experiences i had, where there were walking pukefart-cokezombies and the worst incarnation of "groupie-choosing-beggar-fans" ever. so - it it is just weird me, overreacting again :-) at least all you guys are buddies and nobody accidentally drops a gun or a knife while peeing into the backstage waiting room sink. |

Many of us are near or over half a century old, we should be happy that we're still breathing at all. Snoring and farts are signs of life, and probably have evolved for scaring small animals away. Larger animals may mistake you as their own kind, which means.. I do not know what it means. |

Will it be retialed: Nope, you can drink as much as you want.
What will be retailed and how many thousands of euros do I need to bring or do you accept cards? When you buy a ticket it is all inclusive (drink, food, etc.). Besides basic needs there might be a foodtruck outside selling fries and snacks for cash money preferably (perhaps cards too).
Further, sleeping bags is a bit over the top, would not a blanket do? I dunno, whatever you require. There is a bed and pillow for the rest it really is up to you. |

Is there already any information on how to park cars this year as parking by the street is not allowed anymore?
With 500 people attending this could yield quite some funny chaos after the available 20-40 slots are filled..
I doubt there's a bus shuttle from the Best Western to the party and back? :) |

Parking is challenging, that is correct. However there are many things not right in Dano"s post. There are not 500 people attending. There is extra parking space available, but not enough. Parking on the side of the road is not forbidden. There is a shuttle service available.
Although I can not guarantee there will be enough parking space it is not as grim as portrayed. |

There is more parking space available within walking distance in the village of Someren. Parking at the roadside is only allowed if the parking is full! Please be aware there is enough room for the Police, Ambulance and Fire Department.
Shuttle Service
We have a shuttle service available for visitors who come by train. There is a black Opel station wagon (max. 4 persons) travelling back and forth between Heeze station and the event location De Hoof in Someren. The shuttle runs on the hour to and from the station between 11:00 and 17:00 on Friday 2nd June only. Please be patient and wait for the car to arrive at this location.
Food & Drinks
- Your ticket is an all-in ticket, including dinner, beer, softdrinks, etc.
- You are free to bring your own booze, food, snacks, etc.
- Only the snack-car on saturday is not free.
There is more info in the email. |

is it OK to have a signature on pic for gfx compo entry? yes, the competitions are not anonymous, all creators will be announced before their entry is shown anyway. |

Last minute request to "native" NTSC users: I have a 250469 original NTSC board lacking it's VIC-II. I'd happily trade your working NTSC VIC-II 8562 against a working PAL VIC-II 8565, so please take it along if you can spare one (hope I didn't mix up the numbers) :) |

We still have a few tickets available (all types, also if you want to sleep at X), so if you're a late decider, now is your chance to join: https://www.scs-trc.net/x2023/register |

Gotta feelin Count's not talking Vape-Shit Unicorn Flavour 8D
Just sayin': if YOU or any of YOUR GROUPMATES won any of the Compos at BCC Party #16 find me at X in the MYD! corner to pick up prizes for yourself or your mates.
Mayday! corner = just follow the noise, the beer flag, the craziness... and if people don't speak Finnish, you might have found MYD
PS: Sorry, at BCC Online Only #15 we managed to ship stuff, #16 with myself having had caught da virus for the first time and everyone disappointed of not-real-party-shit-once-again was a little messy in that respect, hope you gonna pick up the nice lil stuff we organized for you, if that won't work out, I'm gonna ship it of course. |

Ryk's feeling is correct and I assure that you can make more out of supplying US than picking up stickers at MYD corner - they could be borderline ppl as much as we are anyhow... |

Especially for you I'm gonna pack some EXtra wonderful sticker =D
seriously, some prizes are more symbolic, but others are really rare or even unique - priceless prizes :P |

(twitch.tv) i just checked out the music compo video.
What is the purpose of the black line that runs across the screen on all entries? the black line extends into both side-borders and dips down in the center, a curving black line. |

Again, C64 scene made the unpossible possible. Thanks everyone, I was thoroughly entertained for the whole weekend!
Is the has-it-all zip available for download yet? I'd need to check a few prods on my own C64, on my own monitor, to actually believe what I saw yesterday on the stream was actually true. Too many prods to download separately, lazy as I am. :) |

I watched it on the livestream. It felt almost like being there. Of course, nothing beats the big screen :-) I was a little bit disappointed though that Booze Design did not participate. |

Noticed that several demo disks from the compo are 40 trackers (192kB). Never tried to transfer those to real disks. What do I need to do this? |

Zip-Collection V2.0
Zip-code sixpack will work with extended tracks. ( But it is a long process. ) |

With an IDE64 it takes 25 seconds on a pre-formatted disk with this:
ID64 Package V0.7
Takes longer with formatting but that box of disks in my rotation were already formatted 40 track at least once in the past. |

Thanks for great party, if you missed my "NOT ONLY BLACK BOX - Cartridges developed in Poland" lecture then I just finished editing it:
https://youtu.be/RM0j191FAXA
Fortunately I did record it on my own because it looks like it was not saved by video team.
BTW how is it possible to upload photos to this: https://www.scs-trc.net/gallery/ ? |

hoi,
i'm looking for a live recording of my We Love PETSCII demo.
Since Stormfront/Excess was recording the demos I didn't see the need to record myself
and so enjoyed the show on the big screen. Unfortunately, my demo was NOT recorded.
So I'm hoping that one of the other guys who recorded the demos live also has mine and will send it to me.

Quoting Low Spiriti'm looking for a live recording of my We Love PETSCII demo. Not sure if live enough*, but maybe https://scenesat.com/videoarchive/0a64e755-0272-11ee-931f-00505.. starting around 34:05 fits your bill?
* The demos themselves seem to be without ambient audience sound, but the Twitch chat sidebar is hardbaked into the video. |

Here are most of the live recordings from the Twitch/Scenesat stream, courtesy of FRaNKy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RUa7cOBUCM&list=PLZrOu95tr-T5g..
We're still missing the 4k, where the recording was corrupted, but we'll come up with a mixed/fixed recording. |
