The stack and the stack pointer!

I'm writing a 6502/6510 emulator. I've implemented most of the works but have a problem with the stack. More precisely the stack pointer. The hardware stack, I know, is located at $0100 - $01ff, but where's the stack pointer?.. Is that kept internally in the CPU and not readable?

it's internal to the cpu, just like a,x,y.

You can 'read' it using the TSX/TXS commands.
