Sids

I was wondering if it could be possible to run two sids at once. This question popped in my head while thinking of creating a stereo-like sid. The program I use is Voicetracker.

you can jsr as many sidplayers as you have rastertime for, but you cant play 2 notes at same time on same channel, so whats the point ?

Martin Galway's player is doing 4-7 subroutines that do different parts of the SID chip - I guess you could call that more players (even if its only 1)

So, to save you from wasting your time: the answer is NO :)

Damn Oswald....It was just a question....LOL Thanks for the link.

Rambone - Thanks for the info. I already knew that info about sids. It was just a thought I had bouncing around in my head for years.

By the way, there is a stereo mod for JCH and a stereo version of Goattracker that support 2 sids. Won't help you much if you intend to stick to Voicetracker, though.

Plz.. Oswald and others. Am i the only one who don't appreciate very very phunny photo-chopped jpegs in the forums? This shite is for discussions! Ok, Oswald you made a point with that jpeg, which also could have been written in a few words.

Plz stick to Pouet if you want to show your photo-chop skills, keep this place tidy!

...and, now getting slightly off topic; Did I dream or was there someone building some new piece of stereo SID hardware lately (not the one which is sold with Prophet I think)? Any pointers to available stereo SID hardware (for the C64, of course) which is being sold in these days?

http://www.c64net.com/fotios/fbss.php

The problem is, it doesn't support the lower sid mirror regs, only the higher ones ($DE00, $DE20, $DE40, $DE60, $DE80, $DEA0, $DEC0, $DF00, $DF20, $DF40, $DF60, $DF80, $DFA0, $DFC0). To my knowledge this is only supported by Modplay64/128 and CG Sidplayer tunes (CGSC).

All current scene tunes released for stereo sids to this day (JCH/GT) were made for $D420 and the lower mirror regs (for example Rayden's stereo/quadro sids use the even registers D500/D600/D700/D800 IIRC).

That's why I got a bit hesitant to buy this cart, I'm not really into CGSC cr..tunes.

Thanks a lot for the reply! This was precisely the hardware I was looking for.

Hmm... Now would that work with a AR/TFC/RR/TFR cart plugged in at the same time? It would, right, if using $DE20 rather than $de00 or so?
