Bounty for Apple II Taipan port to C64
Hello,
There is a new bounty posted for a port of the Apple II game Taipan to the C64. Please donate and help get this game ported to the C64. Any coders who want to take this on and claim the bounty are welcome. We are hoping for a conversion re-written in assembly and with color graphics.

Quote: To be fair trip6 did put up quite a large bounty for Berzerk, which I won and then donated to CSDb. So I think cut him some slack. ;)
I was certainly not trying to belittle him or anything, I just think it will be easier to get a donation avalanche rolling by setting it off with a boulder/pebble/whatever. :-)

As I stated on Lemon 64... I plan to donate to the bounty once I get paid... I am an independent consultant right now and I am waiting on my pay from my last invoice... When it comes the bounty will increase... I was hoping others might donate too... but if not then so be it... I am trying to get this made for the C64 to benefit the whole scene not just myself (although this is an admitted favorite, I used to go to my friend joe's house to play it on his apple II when I was a kid)... Just like I started the ball rolling with Berzerk and Marty picked it up ran with it and did a wonderful job and truly showcased his talents and the C64. I am hoping that someone will do the same with this. It is a true classic in video game history and deserves a C64 release. Especially now since its public domain. It may be mid July or so before I get paid but when it comes so will a donation towards the bounty. |

It's CoCo source, not Apple source... if that helps anyone.

I hacked together a little BASIC-cleaner tool to help sanitize the code. Anyway, this is the output: http://sites.google.com/site/doynax/Taipan_V1.bas
The general idea is to start deciphering the code and translate it to C, and then start off with a PC version. We'll see if I get anywhere before I get bored ;) |

Check cleared for my last consulting gig... So I added $150.00 plus paypal fees to the bounty as promised... I would encourage others to contribute and might add another $50 in the month of august depending on how things go. Thanks for your efforts Pete... I look forward to seeing this on a C64. Maybe a option to toggle the money lender bug on and off would be a good option to... if you want to read about it just google taipan money lender bug... But you probably already spotted it in the code...
