[idea] hide votes for ongoing competitions
I think that the votes of games should be totally hidden in case of an ongoing competition when the voting for the compo is external (like the current rgcd cartridge compo).
It could be possible to still vote and see the number of votes but just don't display the votes and the total.
This way the votes can't influence the external voting.
In case of the current rgcd compo there is a lot of down voting - i.e. some people (probably other contestants or friends) voting down to make the own game better.
Even so I can't prove it I'm pretty sure it's that case. We've watched the first rgcd compo closely and at first many games got bad votes and after the final result was out many of those down votes have been removed. |

Don't get your idea. Especially in cases like RGCD compo CSDb votes don't matter at all. |

just clicked through vote stats while voting myself and honest, where do you smell downvoting? seems more fair than in most other compos here.
edit: i get the idea however - showing voting results before voting is closed is a stupid idea and distorts the results due to "tactical" voting. however, csdb isn't a platform for compos. |

Indeed.
Just remove the whole voting feature altogether, it has caused more drama than any other feature.
Oh no, wait, there's the edit button that doesn't work. |

Yep for compos held on CSDb this might me true. On the other hand I think observing this "tactical voting" is quite entertaining. By chance I was logged in here and watched while someone was tweaking his vote on my "Drunk Coding" intro when it hadn't so many votes until the entry got 0.1 points lower than before. I was rolling on the floor laughing and thinking "what a poor indiviual that must be" :-) |

Amazing topics! Anonymous votes, tags, working edit buttons... This thread is... Heaven on CSDb.
Anyhow. I want a new JSL picture, he's not too active these days. |

But the drama makes everything interesting..
Not that I would, But is it possible for a single user to vote more than once on the same entry?
I need to get started voting myself... So many cool things released that need my vote :D |
