Wanted: Demos with looooong scrolltexts

I love oldskool demos with long (and entertaining) scrolltexts. But these are very rare (especially nowadays :( ).
Which demos do you know, that have a loooong scrolltext and what is *the* longest scrolltext on C64 ?
I know of the following ones:
"World Record" by Super Swap Sweden 1988(about 70 kb texts)
"165 Blocks Scroller" by Gloom / Oxyron 1991
and if I remember right, there was also one of those Crest multipart demos around 1991 which had a part with a long scroller.
Do you know some more ? and who has the longest (scrolltext ;) ?

I've done some, "Dutch Gold/Focus" comes to mind (with 100 blocks of text written in one go, all by myself). There's also quite a lot of text in "Dark Tales/Focus" as well.

I think there is some old discussion on here on this topic. Perhaps you can find the information you're looking for there?

I think the crest demo you're talking about is McDonald's Restaurant which has a $13000 long scroll text. The one in Piece of Cake that Kyle mentioned is a bit longer - about $13B00. Don't know if it's the longest - would be interesting to know :)

(this has allready been talked about a bit in http://noname.c64.org/csdb/forums/?roomid=7&topicid=6008&showal.. but no conclusion was made in that thread)

There's a "The Cops" demo called Bullshitter, and a Gloom demo called Bullshitter 2 which also have long scrolltexts.

I've written a bunch of long scrolltexts in my life, the longest is probably the one in the Scroll-record part of Digital Force. It's not very interesting though :)

I can only remember 1 scroll i've done with long, long text. I think the demo was called Euphoria and it was the 9 rasters part (or 7 or something).

Reading the previous posts, I never knew people would write such long texts. I have a hard time coming up with 256 bytes of text, I can't see coming up with HOURS of it.

I just never knew when to stop .. in the early days of Focus I pretty much wrote all scrolltexts, just check Visual Delight for example.

Thank you all very much for your suggestions. I've downloaded almost all of them, except those bullshitter demos graham mentioned; i couldn't find them in the usual places...
I think I'll have a nice read now :)

Not in that perticular part, you did write some text in the partyscroller written in Skövde. You're credited for it as well :)

I guess the gold medal goes to the long scroller part in the Pride megademo called Deep. It contains $1A000 (104k) bytes of scrolltext. It was quite a long work to type in our group history, many different stories and a bunch of U2 lyrics too..

Here's another demo that claims to have about 93 blocks of scrolltexts, not sure how much that is in kb though.

4 blocks = 1 kbyte, so 93 would be less than 25 kb

Damn... I *KNOW* there is a demo with an extremely long scroller. The makers used some sort of compression to get more text in. I think they used only 7 bits per letter or something. And it completely filled the memory.

But sorry... can't remember anymore :(

Well, this hasn't the longest scroller in terms of text, but it certainly is one of the longer scrollers in terms of visible chars, as it spirals inwards.

Over 2.5 hours of scrolltext.

The one in Armageddon was $18000 bytes long, which is 96kb. Looks like it only takes silver medal, if that Pride demo is $1A000.

Dammit, i must get back to the drawing board ;).

Was fun doing though, i remember we wrote most of it at one of Dexters meetings. Not that hard when 20 people take turn on the keyboard :)

One of the parts in "Alvesta Sirap '88" by Triumph has a scrolltext by Monopoly which lasted 10 minutes, scrolling by 3 pixels per frame.

The Great Kloakkman has, as somebody has mentioned previously, $1dcbb bytes of scrolltext.

However, let me quote from that very demo: "This is not the longest scrolltext on the C64, Baboons made one that was ca. 135000 ($21000) bytes long, but they spread it over a whole disk side and used multi-load. And our attempt is not THAT far away..."

This is the demo they talked about:
