I don't have one single favourite, but if I have to choose just one distinctive and sort of unusual piece reflecting my personal views, way of life, values, and even opinions that would be:
Deel 3
http://www.c64.org/HVSC/MUSICIANS/T/Tel_Jeroen/Deel_3.sid
...by Jeroen Tel. It's going ang going a never stops, it's optimistic, witty, vital, inspiring (!) and makes me jump around the place. I can listen to it in loops.

As mentioned it is impossible to have _one_ favourite. What I miss in this list though, are, amongst others (and amongst mentioned):
Wally Beben's Tetris
Antony Crowther's R1D1
Decoder's Driven Special #1 & Driven #8
Ed's Last Aproach
Jeroen Tel's Supremacy
CreaMD's Driven #10 (brb) & Driven #15 (compromise)
Liket's Draztic Art
Orcan's Ocean
Mitch and Dane's Gloria
Dwayne Bakewell's Summer Heat
..to be continued. |

Yeah, I truly adore Maine and it should have been mentioned in my above list. Afaik it is made by Dane though, at least according to HVSC, though it was released under their common flag in 1996 (Bondage).
So Mitch(Dane) won't do, as they are two persons. I have been aware of this since 1995.
Agreed on Guy Shavitt. Don't forget some Prosonix-tunes, like Lars Hoff's Recovery. |

Okay, i'm putting up my two favourite tunes, mostly because they are more personal than technically brilliant/appealing..
See Ya - Zenox : from my personal favourite demo Gandalf's Last/Starion, where some people's poured coke into the 2000 ad's guys computer (or vice versa) .. I got this demo at the end of the year it came out, which was a pretty big feat considering the distance and the fact most people were gamerlamer kiddies trading warez on the bus before/after school :)
Deadline - Rock : The definitive crack intro tune.. Nothing else says cracktro like this tune, 2 giant transcom logos swinging, bubbles across the screen and nice 4x4 (?) scroller.. Tune is really well designed and technically brilliant also. When i saw this intro for the first time i'd been in contact with some actual sceners for a while and would make the mega-hike (40 kilometres south) out to Illawong to kick their arse in street fighter. We'd all bullshit about how hardcore it was and etc etc etc..
Besides, it's impossible to pick one tune and at an average of 4k a tune you will able to take more than one if you are going to be stranded on a desert island.

Besides Fade's 2 ghey entries, Id like to mention Batman - JCH. First time I heard this tune was in Geggin's first part in one of the Wonderland series. The part built up nicely with the tune, and all those splits back then even made some amiga guys' jaws drop at a copyparty we were at. |

Theres many good sid's, theres many great sid's, and if pushed to pick just one, then it would have to be a tune from Wizball by Martin Galway, the tune appears on the high score table, and sounds laid back and very cool.

Jeroen Tel's Supremacy/turbo outrun/battle valley =)
Vindicator by Jonathan Dunn. - they did a studio version on synths, does anyone remember that?
Led storm / tim follin - the subtune 2 or 3? funky vibes.
bmx kidz / Jori Olkkonen - very cool hiscore/ambient sounding long tune.
green beret / martin galway as used in Circlesque
Circlesque
kettle tune was good, was a funky version of polly put the kettle on? hehe
turbo charge - by sonix systems and odie's JMJ calypso (slight biased ;-) )
thaantos by robb hubbard with always remind me of Derby Ram, he used it in an intro, for me it kinda became associated with him.
antirad - richard joesph , very dramtic.
mission ad - fred grey
galway's game over music and a lot of the sample based stuff he did.
Matt Gray did some nice tunes
as for my favourite out of all of them, Tim Follin for bionic commando amongst many other tunes. Yes people go on about Tel,Galway and Hubbard, but forget him.
as for the demo scene.. hhmm 1000's more =)

Steel, I just downloaded the sid as I'd not heard it in years. I'm on about tune 1... not 2, I heard that most of heard in loads of intros.
the riff on tune one is based on "polly" but funked up =)
listen about hhm 26 seconds in. It's like Polly went to a jazz club.hehe
http://www.geocities.com/EnchantedForest/3607/polly.mid
thats another funked up version. It's like a kids nursery ryme well known in the uk, not sure about the rest of the world.
as for the led storm/follin tune, it was tune 5 and reminds me of some of JCH's and vibrants jazzy style =) |

It keeps me up at late nights. :)
But it's really hard to decide, as I like so many...
Tetris, Delta, Turrican 1-3, Plush2K, Turbo Outrun, Tubbs and Valerie (by Ramiro Vaca), Nibbles, Sanxion (was covered very nicely in fr-010.scx "Art")... and many many more.
What I like about this thread is, that I hear so many new tunes now. Thanks alot! |

It's tough between Drax's Tristesse and Laxity's Alibi.
Both VERY melodic with a sad flavour. |

I'm not sure, but it would probably be a tune by Rob Hubbard. |

Definitely one by Hubbard. Pretty hard to choose just one.
Crazy Comets, Commando and International Karate spring to mind, but also Lightforce (even though Hubbard never really liked the final version, but I thought it was brilliant) and Monty on the Run are not to be forgotten. |

Hard to choose one, but I like Anvil_02.sid by Anvil. To me, it has that certain "fresh" sound that I can't find in most tunes. Either that, or I must be crazy ;) |

picking one is too hard but it's probably The Captive by ??? (I know this has been voted one of the worst sids somewhere but I love it...it's like Gentle Giant or something like that)
other top picks:
Zzap69 - Green Tomato
Trygve Gundersen - Eat Maniac
Tim Follin - Bionic Commando
Rob Hubbard - Wiz
Ben Daglish - Chicken
? - Frankenstein

My favourite C64 tune right now is probably Goto80s unreleased dub version of the likewise unreleased Goto80-tune called matsam0te. :)
Only available in the underground C64 scene, outside of the mainstream C64 scene. ;) |

Mesmerized by this tune when first watching Barbaric by Hal back in early 1988. Still have the same feelings to this day ... NTSC speed of course. ;)
Name: Knucklebusters
Author: Rob Hubbard

Today Im going to say: Tristesse/Drax |
