Ideas for SID Compos
After the great success of the Crack Intro Music Competition 2013 some musicians are hungry for the next compo. So let's collect some ideas.
How about a compo for CHILL-OUT or LONGPLAY SIDs which you can listen for many minutes without getting on your nerves? |

Oh, I think the Tiny Sid compos were pretty cool. A 3rd edition would be cool.
A themed compo is nice as well. |

imho there is nothing wrong setting up a tinysid compo that requires ppl to code or learn a new weird player. it's not like it's the only compo around ;)
the whole issue in a tinysid compo *is* about being super clever in sound AND code.
don't want or can't do it? no problem, we'll hear you in the 20 other compo's instead.
Anyhow, to take it a bit over the edge and I don't compose, so I think all sid compo's should be banned until I can enter too! ;))) |

Dear Enno, you are not so wrong with your statement. But, try it vice versa: Nobody is stopping you (for example :) to start such a tiny-sid competition ;)

"Let whatever compo limitations/rules you like be of such a form that people can use the player they are used to."

I thought you, Kristian and Jammer were trying to stop it ;) |

No, by all means, a tiny SID compo would probably be cool.. though I would probably call it a coding competition rather than a music competiton.
Then again, just because _I_ can't code a player doesn't mean other composers can't, so you'd probably get a lot of composers to compete too :) |

When you reach Yoda state, there is no distinction between coding and making music. Amen.
Another Tiny SID compo? Well, then I suppose I would win once again. ;) |

yeah, since most "composers" nowadays try to hide their bad composing-talent with "good" coding / extra-great-sounding instruments/players :D |

Perhaps a "must not sound like c64 scene music" compo :P Wher stuff like what Linus mentioned could be experimented ;) Would love to hear what composers do when out of their "style comfort zone" and that's more of a stylistic challenge than a technical one (and could involve more people who are daunted by coding stuff) |
